Bonnie Sue Sparks Nelson, age 56, died Sunday, December 14, 2015 at North MS Medical Center in Tupelo, MS. She was born September 21, 1959 in Memphis, TN to William “Bill” and Gladys Scruggs Sparks. Bonnie served in the U.S. Army, was a member of the Eastern Star and worked for several years at Oxford-Lafayette County Hospital as an LPN. She was a faithful member of Sand Hill Methodist Church where she served as song leader and taught Sunday School to the younger children when needed. Bonnie loved to sing and enjoyed swimming and shopping. She was a devoted wife and mother who loved spending time with her family and friends.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, December 16, 2015 from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Seven Oaks Funeral Home in Water Valley, MS. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on Thursday, December 17, 2015 at Seven Oaks with Bro. Bobby Jones officiating. Burial will be in the Sand Hill Cemetery.
Bonnie is survived by her husband of 33 years, Virgil Lynn Nelson, Jr. of Water Valley, MS; two sons, Scott Alexander Nelson and Joshua Paul “J.P.” Nelson both of Oxford, MS; her parents, Bill and Gladys Sparks; three sisters, Cheryl (Wayne) Hanks and June (Donnie) Williams all of Oxford, MS and Gayle (Jacob) Lane of Albuquerque, NM; one brother, Bill (Susan) Sparks of Oxford, MS; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
