Rowena Hammond Wilson, 89 of Fitzgerald, died, Saturday, December 12, 2015 at her residence surrounded by her family.
Funeral services will be held 11 AM, Monday, December 14, 2015 at The Church of Nazarene with the Rev. Danny Bohler officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery with Pastor Barry Stephens officiating. The family will be receiving friends one hour before the service in the sanctuary on Monday.
Mrs. Wilson was born August 23, 1926, in Springfield, Illinois, to the late Art & Bernice Hammond. She graduated high school in Illinois and did on-the-job training to become a lab technician. She moved to Fitzgerald in 1990 having lived in Homestead, Florida and Hurst, Texas. She was a longtime Pink Lady with the Dorminy Medical Center Auxiliary. She loved scrap booking as well as craft making and putting together puzzles. Mrs. Wilson was a member of the Church of the Nazarene in Fitzgerald.
She is survived by her children and their spouses: Richard Paul “Dick” Wilson & Joan of Fitzgerald and Deborah Ann “Debbie” Bohler & David of Irwinville; nine grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and a brother, Jim & Jeanette Hammond of Prescott, Arkansas.
