Obituary

Richard “Bill” Virgil Halverson, 75, of Prosser, passed away on December 9, 2015 at Kadlec Medical Center in Richland.
He was born on December 12, 1939 in Havre, Montana to Virgil Perry Halverson and Agnes Christine (Mork) Halverson. He was raised and educated in Havre and Great Falls, Montana. In 1958, he joined the U.S. Army and was stationed in Friedburg, Germany. After his honorable discharge, he made his home in Illinois and worked for United Steel. He later worked in the Todd Shipyards in California and after moving to Seattle, worked at the Lockheed Shipyards and Boeing on the 777 Project until retiring. Richard married Marian L. Beecher in Marysville, WA on April 23, 1988. The couple made their home in Prosser in 2008.
Richard was very patriotic and very proud of being 100% Norwegian. In 2004, they enjoyed a trip to Norway and England. He was also a member of the Sons of Norway in Kennewick. He enjoyed working on his family genealogy and once a year for ten years, traveled to Minnesota to meet extended family members. He and Marian enjoyed wintering in Yuma and Buckeye, Arizona. He was a proud member of the Boilermakers Union and the Machinist Union.
He is survived by his wife of twenty-seven years, Marian of Prosser; three children, Richard Halverson Jr. (Lucy), Carla (Tom) Smith and Rickey Howard all of Tennessee; two step-children, Michele (Stephen) Miller of Bellevue and Sean Lorah of Snohomish; grandchildren, Ricky, Ashlyn, Justin, David, Kristen, James, Samantha, Amy, Rickey Jr. and Elizabeth; six great-grandchildren; brother, Allen (Nancy) Halverson of N. Las Vegas; two sisters, Marcie Ainsworth of TN and Sheila (Greg) Oliver of Medical Lake; many nieces, nephews and extended family.
Funeral services will be held at Prosser Funeral Home at 1:30 P.M. Monday, December 14th. A time of sharing and luncheon will follow. Graveside services with Full Military Honors will be held at 1:30 P.M. on Tuesday, December 15th at the Washington State Veterans Cemetery in Medical Lake.
