Mary Alice Durst Dixon, 89, of Ocilla, died Saturday, December 12, 2015, at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany.
Funeral services will be held 2 PM, Tuesday, December 15, 2015, at Holt Baptist Church in Irwin County, with the Rev. David Biggers officiating. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery in Fitzgerald.
Mrs. Durst was born August 6, 1926, in Leesville, South Carolina, to the late Tom & Gladys Asbill Durst. She was a 1943 graduate of B & L High School and moved to Fitzgerald in 1945 following her marriage to Ossie Dixon. She worked alongside her husband on the farm as a homemaker and farm wife. She was a member of Holt Baptist Church.
She is survived by a sister-in-law, Ethel Turner of Fitzgerald; as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers: Lemuel Durst and Tommy Durst and one sister, Ruby Oliver.
