Ernest “Ernie” W. Ashooh, 88, lifelong resident of Manchester departed from this life December 10, 2015 surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Manchester, NH on October 18, 1927, he was the son of Najeeb and Barbara (Hykil) Ashooh. He was educated in the local school system and graduated from Manchester Central High School. During the Korean Conflict, he served in the US Army.
Prior to retirement, he had been a salesman with MetLife Insurance Company for many years.
Ernie was a dedicated parishioner and founding member of Our Lady of the Cedars Church, where he spent countless hours volunteering, cooking, and welcoming people to his parish.
Ernie was a tremendous cook and loved having a house full of people to serve his delicious creations. He most enjoyed driving around Manchester and reminiscing as well as long drives to the beach. Above all else, he will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin and friend whose bright smile will be missed by all.
Family members include his wife of 47 years, Almaz (Tenn) Ashooh of Manchester; his children, Sandra (Ashooh) O’Leary and husband Stephen and their two children, Joseph Ashooh and wife Jennifer and their children Samantha and Ryan; Roseanne Ashooh; his sister, Elizabeth Ashooh; his brother, Roger Ashooh and wife Bette; many Godchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was predeceased by several siblings and his parents.
The funeral service was held on Tuesday, December 15, 2015 in Our Lady of the Cedars Melkite Church, 140 Mitchell St. Burial followed in St. Joseph Cemetery, Bedford.
