Obituary

Edward J. "Brother" O'Leary, a lifelong resident of Charlestown, entered into eternal life on Thursday, December 10, 2015 at EPOCH Senior Health Care in Melrose. He was 86 years old.

Brother was born in Elyria, Ohio, a son of the late Albina (Green) O'Leary. He grew up in Charlestown where he attended St. Francis De Sales Parochial School and graduated form Roxbury Memorial High School. Following high school, Brother enlisted into the United States Air Force on November 27, 1950 and served his country with courage and honor during the Korean Conflict. He was discharged on July 11, 1954 with the rank of Airman First Class. Brother worked for the United States Postal Service as a Mail Handler at South Postal Annex for 30 years, retiring on February 3, 1989. Brother was an avid Boston sports fan, he also enjoyed horse racing. Brother will be remembered for his kindness and his devotion to his family.

Brother is the beloved cousin of Barbara Crooker and her husband Doug of Derry, New Hampshire, Carol Doherty and her husband Stevie of Malden and also Kelli Flanagan, Paul Whitney, Cheryl Whitney, John Whitney, Carolyn Werner, and Stephen Crooker. Brother is the nephew of the late Emily Howell and Francis Green.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Brother's Funeral on Monday, December 14, 2015 at 10 A.M. from The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown followed by his Funeral Mass in St. Francis De Sales Church, 313 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown at 11 A.M. His burial will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery in Malden. Visiting hours will be on Sunday, December 13, 2015 from 2 to 5 P.M. in the funeral home.
