Obituary

John Thomas Lonati, 52, of Franklin passed away after a “Superman” battle with cancer on December 8. He leaves behind his loving wife, Marianne (Sarazen) Lonati and his three cherished daughters, Alex, Michaela and Dani.
Born in Plainfield, New Jersey, October 17, 1963, the son of Joyce (Merrill) Lonati of Narragansett, Rhode Island and the late John Lonati, Jr. John grew up in East Greenwich, Rhode Island, where he met and married his childhood sweetheart, Mare.
John graduated from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute with a degree in Mechanical Engineering and where he was a proud brother of the Theta Chi fraternity. John recently celebrated 30 years with the Frito Lay Corporation where he was a leadership team member, a mentor and a devoted friend.
John was an avid New York Jets fan who loved sports, gardening and travel. He celebrated life every day with joy, kindness and friendship and had a positive impact on everyone he met.
John is also survived by his three sisters, Karen Lonati of Walpole, Jill Curtis of Sugarland, Texas, Jeanne Lonati of Fresno, Texas and his brother Steve Lonati of Frazer, Pennsylvania.
His funeral mass will be celebrated on Monday, December 14, in St. Mary’s Church, Church Square, Franklin at 10:00.
Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
Calling hours will be on Sunday from 4-8 p.m. in the Ginley Funeral Home of Franklin (www.ginleyfuneralhomes.com) 131 Main Street, Franklin.
As brave a battle as he fought, John always said how much worse it would be to have this happen to a child. The family asks that you omit flowers and donate in John’s name to the Jimmy Fund 10 Brookline Place, West 6th floor, Brookline, MA 02445-7226.
