Sr. Myra O’Connell, MMM was born in Co. Dublin, Ireland in 1925 and died peacefully on December 8, 2015 at the Jeanne Jugan Residence in Somerville, where she was very skillfully and lovingly cared for by the Little Sistes of the Poor and staff.
Sr. Myra was the daughter of Violet and Maurice O’Connell and is survived by her 3 sisters: Lillian Lee, Onnagh Ribet and Sighle Noel, her sister-in-law Lily, wife of her late brother Robert, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours in the Jeanne Jugan Residence - Little Sisters of the Poor, 186 Highland Avenue, Somerville ond Thursday 5:00pm-8:00pm.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated in the Jeanne Jugan Chapel on Friday at 11:00am.
Sr. Myra entered the Medical Missionaries of Mary (MMM) in 1943. After training as a nurse, her assignments included: Ireland, Italy, Malawi and in the USA: Chicago and Somerville. While in Chicago, she very proudly became an American Citizen. Sr. Myra loved people and generously shared her many gifts: compassion, laughter, love of life and music with all she cared for and met. She will be greatly missed by her MMM community and all who loved her.
