WORCESTER: Carmen (Roldan) Alvarez, 87, died Monday, December 7, 2015 at Beaumont Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Center, after a long illness. Her husband of 61 years, Ernesto Alvarez, died November 19, 2012.
She leaves two sons, Ernest Alvarez of Brooklyn, NY, Adrian Alvarez and his wife Bruni of Brick, NJ; two daughters, Lillian Alvarez and her companion Joe Tolson of Worcester; Nilda Alvarez and her companion Harold Booth of Worcester; eight grandchildren, Eric, Samantha, Adam, Brian, Letty, Joshua, Tisha and Chris; nine great grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Celestina Roldan and Herminia Alvarez Rosado, both of Puerto Rico; and many nieces and nephews. A sister, five brothers, and a daughter-in-law, Judy Alvarez, all predeceased her.
She was born in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico, daughter of the late Juan and Juanita (Roldan) Roldan. She moved to the United States and lived in New York before moving to Worcester in 2010.
Carmen worked for several years in laundry services at the Hotel St. George in New York City. She previously worked at a handbag company, also in New York. Her greatest joy was being a mother and a homemaker. She was a member of St. Joan of Arc Church and enjoyed doing needlework.
A CALLING HOUR will be held from 12 to 1 P.M. on FRIDAY, DEC. 11 in KELLY FUNERAL HOME, 154 Lincoln Street, immediately followed by A FUNERAL SERVICE in the funeral home at 1 P.M. Burial will follow in Hope Cemetery.
