Marion Alice Postel, 88, of Groton passed away Saturday, December 5, 2015 at the Groton Regency. She was the wife of Donald Lyle Postel, who predeceased her in 1967.
She was born in Mystic, CT on September 17, 1927, the daughter of Harry A. and Annie J. (Gillen) Mathewson. She lived in the Mystic/Groton area where she devotedly raised her family.
Marion was fondly known as "Big Gram." She was a loving mother and grandmother. Cleaning was her passion. She also loved working in and decorating her "little garden".
She is survived by her daughter, Sherry Lambing of Ledyard, her loving great grandchildren, Hailey and Jillian, and her very dear friend, Ann Millette. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Besides her husband, she was predeceased by her son, Barry L. Postel.
Burial in Elm Grove Cemetery will be private for the family.
