Sr. Irene Joyal, age 95 passed away on December 6, 2015 at the St. Claire Residence of the Presentation of Mary of Methuen. Sr. Irene was born in Keene, NH on June 14, 1920 to the late Cyprien and Alphonsine (Cournoyer) Joyal. Sr. Irene was educated at the Sacred Heart School in Manchester, NH. She was a graduate of St. Mary’s High School in Manchester, NH, a graduate of Rivier College and a graduate of Hesser Business College. Sister Irene taught in schools in Holyoke and Chicopee, MA and Biddeford, ME. She was a school librarian in Gardner as well as an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox.
Sr. Irene is survived by Mrs. Rita Anctil, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Friends and guests are invited to call on Thursday, December 10, 2015 from 2:00 PM until 5:00 PM at the St. Claire Residence of the Presentation of Mary, 209 Lawrence St. Methuen. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Friday, December 11, 2015 at 2:30 PM at the Chapel at the St. Claire Residence of the Presentation of Mary.
