Augusta, GA---Mrs. Helen Battle Heath, 93, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, December 6, 2015, at a local hospital.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 10, 2015 at 1:00 pm in the Chapel of Trinity on the Hill United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Greg Hatfield and Dr. Mike Cash officiating. Interment will follow at Westover Memorial Park.
Helen was born and raised in Augusta, Ga. She was a devout Christian and a lifelong member of Trinity on the Hill United Methodist Church, where she taught children Sunday school for many years. She earned her Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in Education from the University of Georgia. She retired as a teacher for Richmond County, teaching Science at Tubman Junior High School and Langford Junior High School. She served on the Board of Directors of the Retired Teachers Association and was a member of the Rho Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma, Educational Honor Society for Women Teachers.
She was preceded in death by her late husband, Robert E. Heath, Jr., parents, Clifton L. Battle and Wilhelmina Morgan Battle, brother, Clifton Lyle Battle, Jr. and grandchildren Christopher Chandler and Sarah Chandler.
She is survived by her four children, Clayton W. Chandler (Shirley), Norton M. Wade (Kim), Clifton “Chip” E. Heath (Sheila), and Wilhelmina Heath Fulgenzi (John), twelve grandchildren, Robert Chandler, M.D., David Chandler, Marisa Wade Hartley, Lauren Zelgewicz, Matthew Zelgewicz, Katherine Zelgewicz, Ansley Heath Phillips, Alex Heath, Jordan Heath Waitman, Taylor Heath, Helen Morgan Fulgenzi, John Michael Heath Fulgenzi, and two great grandchildren, Kaley Jane Hartley and Brooks Hartley.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, December 9, 2015 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Platt’s Funeral Home Crawford Avenue.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made to the general fund of Trinity on the Hill United Methodist Church, 1330 Monte Sano Avenue, Augusta, Georgia 30904.
