Obituary

Lucien R. Remillard, 83, of Millville died Saturday morning at Landmark Medical Center. He was the loving husband of the late Cecile Y. (LaFontaine) Remillard. They were married in 1953 and shared over 54 years together until Cecile passed away in 2007.
Born and raised in Woonsocket he was a son of the late Louis and Candide (Forcier) Remillard. He was a resident of Millville for over 50 years having previously lived in Connecticut for several years.
Mr. Remillard was a United States Army veteran serving during the Korean War.
He was employed in facilities management at Engelhard Corporation in Plainville, MA. He also worked in his earlier years in the construction business for Lodie Brien Construction. He also worked for Underwood Typewriter Company and Peter Pan Ice Cream Company.
Lucien was a longtime communicant of St. Augustine Parish. His love of hockey was demonstrated by his staunch support for the Boston Bruins. He enjoyed trips to visit relatives throughout the province of Quebec. Lucien and Cecile also enjoyed being in Florida for many winters.
Lucien will be remembered as a devoted father and grandfather. A hard working man Lucien cherished spending time with those he loved.
He is survived by a daughter Betty A. McGourty and her companion, Neil Keisling, of Woonsocket, two sons Michael R. Remillard of Millville and Paul G. Remillard and his wife, Margo, of Worcester. He was the father of the late Lisa C. Remillard who passed away in 1970. He was the brother of Gerard Remillard of Woonsocket and the late Louis Remillard. His is also survived by 4 grandchildren Kelly Augat, Patrick McGourty (W.P.D.) Joshua and Jacob Remillard, 3 great-grandchildren Madison, Mackenzie and Deaglan and many nieces and nephews.
His funeral will be Thursday at 10:00 am from the Menard-Lacouture Funeral Home, 127 Carrington Ave. Woonsocket followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am in St. Augustine Church, 17 Lincoln St. Millville. Burial will be private. Visiting hours are Wednesday from 5-8 pm.
