SCARBOROUGH - Stephanie M. Knights-Freedman, 51, died peacefully at home with family by her side on Dec. 4, 2015 after a six-month battle with breast cancer. She was born and raised in Littleton, NH, the daughter of Michael J. Knights and Anne M. Colgan. She graduated from Littleton High School, earned a degree in Nursing, moved to Maine and began her 30 year career as a caregiver.
? Stephanie was devoted to her work and had a profound effect on patients and co-workers. She worked in Nephrology, management, and research. In 2009 after an initial attempt by cancer to take her from us, she survived and used her personal and professional experiences to become an outstanding Oncology Nurse Navigator, helping others through their cancer journey.
In 2012, Stephanie received the Meredith Strang Burgess Spirit of Life Award from the Maine Cancer Foundation for her work and, most importantly, for the way she used her light and love to care for her patients and those with whom she worked.
? Stephanie was also a devoted wife, mother and friend. She is remembered as strong and determined, and brought out the best in others. She could be counted on for thoughtful advice, or just someone who would listen and support you. She loved the ocean and her ideal holiday was on a warm sunny beach.
? She is survived by her husband of 16 years, Bernie Freedman; and by her children Cameron and Isabel of Scarborough; also, her mother Anne and sister Shelly Knights-Pelletier of Littleton, NH.
? A celebration of life is schedule for January 30th, 2016, 12:30pm to 3:00pm at Camp Ketcha . All are welcome to attend and celebrate Stephanie’s life. Condolences can be sent to:
