Obituary

SPRINGFIELD – John E. DeRosier, 68, of the South End section of Springfield, was Called Safely Home on Thursday, December 3, 2015. He passed into Eternal Life at his home surrounded by the care and comfort of his loving family. He was born in Springfield on July 27, 1947, a beloved son of the late Joseph O. and Eleanor R. (DeBarge) DeRosier. He was raised in Springfield, attended local schools and lived in Southwick for 20 years before moving back to Springfield. He was a self-employed home painter in the Springfield area for many years. During his leisure time, John was an avid golfer and enjoyed playing and watching the game. He also enjoyed playing cribbage with his family and hunting with his dad. John was a man who enjoyed the simple things in life but most of all he loved his family and his many friends. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his two dear brothers, Richard J. DeRosier and David J. DeRosier; and his dear sister, Cecile D. Heath. He leaves his loving sister whom he lived with, Mary T. DeRosier of Springfield; his four loving children, Dawn M. Stevens and her husband, Ken, of Southwick, John J. DeRosier of Syracuse, NY, Peter R. DeRosier of West Springfield and Kimberly A. Sevila and her husband, Jeremy, of Westfield; his six cherished grandchildren, Emily and Adam Stevens, Alex and Caela DeRosier and Jaide and Skylir Sevila; his former wife and friend, Pamela M. (Wojtowicz) DeRosier of West Springfield; his dear sister-in-law, Elaine DeRosier of Springfield; and his many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and extended members of the DeRosier, Wojtowicz and DeBarge families. His relatives and friends are invited to visiting hours on Wednesday, December 9, 2015 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. followed by a Prayer Service at 6 p.m. at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Springfield Chapels, (413-737-1177), 7 Chapin Terrace, Springfield, MA 01107. His burial will be private at the convenience of his family. His family has requested that, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in his memory to Baystate Visiting Nurse and Hospice, 280 Chestnut Street, Springfield, MA 01199.
