Obituary

Leonard F. Hanna, age 96, of Natick died peacefully on Thursday, December 3, 2015 at Beaumont Rehabilitation and Nursing Center of Natick.

He was the beloved husband of the late Doris F. (Ryan) Hanna with who he shared 49 years of marriage.

Born in Natick, a lifelong resident, he was the son of the late Alfred W. Hanna and Alice E. (Whipps) Hanna.

He was a graduate of Natick High School class of 1937. He graduated from the Burdett College. He was a Public Accountant prior to military service. He joined Ludlow Mfg. Co. in 1947 as Chief Accountant, advancing to Purchasing Agent, later to become Assistant Treasurer. He was appointed Business Manager from the Natick Public Schools. He then became self-employed as a Consultant until 2000. He had been active in the New England Traffic Club, National Assn. Of Cost Accountant, the National Purchasing Agents Assn. and the Massachusetts Assn. of the School of Business Officials of which he was an honorary lifetime member.

He was a member of various Veterans’ organizations.

Mr. Hanna served in the US Army during World War II. He graduated as a second lieutenant from the Officers Candidate School at Camp Lee, VA. In 1943. He then served as executor officer in the US Air Force. He ranked a Captain with Honorable discharge in 1947.

Leonard is survived by his daughter, Gale F. Durkin and her husband, Walter F. of Tewksbury, a grandson Shaun F. Durkin of Tewksbury and several nieces and nephews.

He was the grandfather of the late Kelly Ann Durkin, and brother of the late George L. Hanna and Thomas A. Hanna.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Funeral Mass on Monday, December 7, 2015 at 10:00 A.M. in St Patrick’s Church. Visiting hours at John Everett & Sons Funeral Home, 4 Park Street, at Natick Common are Monday morning beginning at 8:30 A.M. prior to the Mass.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Town of Natick ,Leonard F. Hanna Scholarship Fund, 13 East Central St., Natick, MA 01760 . Memorial Scholarships will be awarded to Natick High School graduates pursuing a college degree.
