Obituary

Laconia-----Irene Theresa Lowell, 88, of Court Street, passed away on Tuesday, December 1, 2015 at St. Francis Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, Laconia after an extended period of declining health.
Irene was born in Laconia on June 21, 1927 the daughter of Henry and Rose (Dion) Poire. Irene was a lifelong resident of Laconia and a graduate of Sacred Heart French School and Laconia High School.
Irene retired as bank vault teller for Laconia Peoples Bank and it was through this job she got to know many people in her beloved town of Laconia.
Prior to her stay at St Francis Home, Irene lived at Woodside in the Taylor Community where she participated in many of their activities. Irene’s love of music was always evident as a member of the Taylor Community Chorus. She always looked forward to the Holiday Season when then the Chorus would travel to the various Senior Homes and sing Christmas Carols. Irene was also a member of the cribbage club, and Wi-Bowling League. In her spare time she loved to knit and crochet. Her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren all have many sweaters, blankets, booties and mittens. She also devoted time to make knitted caps for children with cancer. Irene loved to play cards and socialize with her many friends. She always looked forward to the “Girls Night Out” on Wednesday night at the Woodside resident dinner.
Irene is survived by her two sons James Lowell and wife Karen of Gilford and Alan Lowell and fiancé Alison Thibodeau of Quakertown, Pa; her four grandchildren, Kara Chase and her husband Aaron, Kristin Kittridge and her husband Daren, Seth Lowell, and Christopher Lowell; her four great grandchildren, Kendall Chase, Bode Chase, Finnegan Kittridge and Ellington Kittridge; her brother Roland Poire. In addition to her parents Irene was predeceased by her husband Raymond Lowell, brothers, Albert Poire, Arthur Poire, and by a sister, Alice Haynes.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, December 4, 2015 from 6:00pm – 8:00pm at the Wilkinson-Beane-Simoneau-Paquette Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia NH using the Carriage House entrance.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, December 5, 2015 at 10:00am at the St. Andre Bessette Parish- Sacred Heart Church, 291 Union Avenue, Laconia NH.
Burial will be follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Laconia NH.
