SFC John Wayne Konczal, I U. S. Army Retired
Evans, GA---SFC John Wayne Konczal I, 77, entered into rest on November 30, 2015.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Friday, December 4, 2015 at St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church with Father Dawid Kwiatkowski as celebrant. Inurnment will follow at Westover Memorial Park.
SFC Konczal was a native of Detroit, Michigan, but had been a resident of Columbia County for many years. He retired from the U. S. Army after 20 years, having served in the Viet Nam War. He then retired as Chief of Detectives at Ft. Ord, in California. He was a member and member of the board of American Legion Post 192 and was a member of St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church. He will be remembered as a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and greatgrandfather.
SFC Konczal was preceded in death by his wife of 43 years, Barbara Reese Konczal and his parents, Norman Konczal I and Martha Schimmel Konczal.
He is survived by his son and daughter in law, John Wayne Konczal II and Joanna Konczal of Evans, GA, daughter and son in law, Tamela Lynn Jordan and Kelly Jordan of Huntsville, AL, brothers, Norman “Boh” Konczal II and wife, Linda and Dan Konczal, all of Dearborn, Michigan six grandchildren, Amelia, Alexandra, Alayna, Ryan, Chelsey and Dillon and one great granddaughter, Daliah.
Honorary Pallbearers will be members of American Legion Post 192.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, December 3, 2015 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Platt’s Belair Road.
