Obituary

Derwood “Woody” Tyler, 73, of Bellingham and formerly of Greenfield, died Monday, November 30, 2015 at his home. He was the beloved husband of Christine “Tina” (Procak) Tyler for 44 years.

Born in Towanda, PA on May 2, 1942, he was the son of the late Raymond B. and Annis L. (Grow) Tyler.

Woody was raised in Laceyville, PA, graduated from Wyalusing High School and earned a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration for Rutgers University.

Woody was Vice President of Finance and Human Resources at Sybron Corporation where he was employed for 23 years until moving to Greenfield. There he joined Money Concepts, an international financial planning organization as a district manager and became president of his own financial planning center in 1989. He also became Regional Director for Western Mass. and Vermont.

He moved to Bellingham in 2012 where he continued the operation of his financial planning center until his death.

Woody was active in the Mason Republican Lodge A.F. & A.M. and served as master from 1999 to 2001.

Besides his loving wife, he is survived by two daughters, Melanie Rae Miller - Barton, NY and Tara Tyler Berry and her husband Jake of Franklin, a sister Dodi Moncrief of Bridgeton, NJ, and a brother Ray Tyler of Turbotville, PA.

He is also survived by four grandchildren, Nathen, Stephanie and Daniel Miller and Paige Berry and several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral services on Saturday, December 5 at 10 a.m. in St. Blaise Church, 1158 South Main St., Bellingham with Pastor Bob Elster and Father Al Faretra officiating. Interment will follow at St. John the Baptist Cemetery in Bellingham.

Calling hours will be held on Friday evening from 5 - 8 p.m. in the Ginley Funeral Home of Franklin, 131 Main St. in Franklin (www.ginleyfuneralhomes.com). A public evergreen service will be conducted at 7:30 by Republican Lodge A.F. & A.M.

In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in Woody’s memory to the Milford Regional Healthcare Foundation (Dana Farber) checks payable to: “Oliva Fund for Cancer Care” 14 Prospect St., Milford, MA 01757.
