Obituary

Mr. Carmen Anthony Tarentino, age 74, of Manchester, NH and a former longtime resident of Woburn, MA was delivered peacefully into the arms of our Lord God Jesus Christ on November 30, 2015. Carmen was born April 18, 1941 in Boston, MA to parents Frank Sr. and Angelina (Melito) Tarentino. The eldest of five children, Carmen was devoted to his parents and shared close relationships with his brother Anthony, who predeceased him, as well as, with his brother Frank Tarentino Jr. of Ocala, FL. Carmen's other surviving siblings are Ronald Tarentino of Tewksbury, MA and Karen Durney of Debary, FL.

Carmen was the proud father of three daughters; Cheryl Ann Keating of West Peabody, MA, Michelle Lee Tarentino of Londonderry, NH, and Melissa Tarentino of West Peabody, MA. Carmen's love for and devotion to his children was truly beyond measure. Also surviving is his former wife, Angela Elizabeth Tarentino, with whom he remained in close contact, and his beloved grandchildren, Frank Harris Slauenwhite IV, and Jonathan Philip Keating, both of West Peabody, MA, along with Megan Rose and Matthew John Kelley, both of Londonderry, NH.

Family and friendships were the center of Carmen's world. He leaves behind many wonderful friends, including Lorinda Mitchell of Manchester, NH, James Bartlett of Lynnfield, MA, and Linda Dean of North Andover, MA.

Carmen was a respected publishing executive until his retirement. His tenacity in business matters was balanced by a generous and caring heart. Carmen received formal recognition from former Massachusetts Governor Michael Dukakis for his actions as a first civilian responder on the scene of a serious auto accident. He served as an auxiliary police officer in Stoneham, MA during the 1980's and Secretary of Chapter 5 of the Blue Knights, a law enforcement motorcycle club. In his role as Secretary, Carmen was instrumental in organizing several charitable events, including, but not limited to, large scale blood drives to benefit the Red Cross and events to raise funds for the Shriner’s Hospital for Children.

Funeral services for Carmen will be held from the McLaughlin - Dello Russo Funeral Home, 60 Pleasant St., Woburn, Saturday, December 5th, at 10 a.m. followed by service conducted in the Chapel of the Holy Cross Community Mausoleum, 179 Broadway, Malden, at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours at the McLaughlin - Dello Russo Funeral Home will be held on Friday from 4 thru 8 p.m. It has been requested that in lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Carmen's memory to MSPCA - Angell Headquarters, 350 So. Huntington Ave., Boston, MA 02130.
