Obituary

Joseph S. Travis. Age 93. Husband of Mary (Correia) Travis. Residence 655 N. Main Street, Fall River, MA. Died Saturday at Charlton Memorial Hospital.
Born in Fall River. Son of the late John S. Travassos and the late Mariana (Cordeiro) Travassos. He was a lifelong resident of Fall River. He had worked in the textile field for 25 years. The then worked in construction for 15 years and finally as an electronics worker at Raytheon in N. Dighton. He also served in the Merchant Marine in the 1920’s. He was a charter member of the Border City Club. He was a parishioner of St. Michael Church, Essex St., Fall River.

Besides his Wife of Fall River, he is survived by 1 Son: Joseph J. Travis of Dighton, MA. 1 Daughter: Madeline Gardiner of Somerset, MA. 1 Brother: John Travis of Fall River, MA. 1 Sister: Belmira “Bella” Correia of Fall River, MA. 2 Grandchildren; 2 Great Grandchildren; Several Nieces and Nephews. Brother of the late Manuel and Leo Travis and the late Mary Benevides.

His funeral will take place from the Manuel Rogers & Sons Funeral Home, Inc. 1521 N. Main Street, Fall River Tuesday at 9 A.M. with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Michael Church, Essex St., Fall River at 10 A.M. Internment in St. Patrick Cemetery. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the American Heart Association 20 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701-4688
