Jonah Burgman "J. B." Woods, Jr., 92, of Tifton passed away Thursday, November 26, 2015, at Tift Regional Medical Center. His funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 28, 2015, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with Rev. Johnny Woods and Rev. Marshall Kennedy officiating. Mr. Woods will be laid to rest at Tift Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Saturday, November 28, 2015, from 1:00 p.m. until the hour of the service at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Bronzell Dixon, Connor Couvillon, Mike Woods, Jimmy Woods, Donnie Woods and Brandon Harper will serve as pallbearers.
Born August 21, 1923 in Tift County, Mr. Woods was the son of the late Jonah Burgman Woods, Sr. and Annie McMillan Woods. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Emma Louise Danforth Woods, who passed away in 2010; two sons, Gene Woods and Ray Woods, who passed away in 2014, and his wife, Peggy Woods; a brother; two sisters; and a grandson, Darren Johnson. He was a retired farmer and truck driver and member of Corinth Baptist Church in Tifton. He loved watching the Atlanta Braves, fishing and spending time with friends.
Mr. Woods is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara and Emmett Nasworthy of Ashburn and Reida and Mark Evans of Tifton; a brother, A. C. Woods of Tifton; one sister, Johnnie Tucker of Tallahassee, Florida; ten grandchildren, Alisha Couvillon, Jimmy Woods, Brandon Harper, Ross Evans, Ryan Evans, Mike Woods, Johnny Woods, Donnie Woods, Diana Christy and Michael Branch: 13 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.
