Obituary

Marilyn A. Grove of Provincetown died Tuesday, November 24, 2015 at Liberty Commons Nursing Home in Chatham after a short illness. She was the partner of Darlene M. Cordeiro.

Born and raised in Camden, NJ, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Ester (Zook) Grove. After high school, she graduated from Juniata College in Huntingdon, PA and then received a Master’s in Social Work degree from Temple University. She worked as a Senior Social Worker for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts in Eastham, MA.

It was during this period that she joined her friend Ronni Farrell of Truro, doing renovation work within the three town radius. She was also the owner of the 444 Shop on Commercial St, which offered antiques, curios and furniture for the home. Concurrently, she ran an allied business on eBay.

Marilyn was a member of the Provincetown United Methodist Church for over 10 years, during which she directed the Joyful Noise Choir and was a Thrift Shop Manager.

Marilyn loved her many dogs. At one time she was the Provincetown Dog Catcher and would be seen driving around town in her convertible, top down and full of dogs. She enjoyed dancing at the many clubs in Provincetown and tending to her home garden. During the 1980’s she was Coach of the Provincetown Nightmares women’s softball team.

She is survived by her partner, Darlene M. Cordeiro, her sister-in-law, Jane Grove of Fredericksburg, MD and many friends in the area. She was predeceased by a brother, Remle Grove.
