CHICOPEE – Lorraine Y. (Bachand) Anderson, 91, formerly of The Arbors on Memorial Drive in Chicopee, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 23, 2015 at Loomis House in Holyoke surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family and her wonderful caregivers. She was born in Springfield on January 31, 1924, a beloved daughter of the late Evroule E. and Beatrice V. (Demers) Bachand. She was raised in Chicopee, graduated from Chicopee High School and was a lifelong resident of the Chicopee Falls section of the city. She was last employed at the Dielectrics Company in Chicopee. Lorraine enjoyed playing cards and socializing with her many friends. Most of all, she loved being with her family and truly enjoyed going with them on vacations. She especially loved her grandchildren, planning for holidays and watching old movies. Her home was always open to everyone and she was known to her family as “Mrs. Clean” as her home was always immaculate with everything in its place. Besides her parents, she was also predeceased by her beloved husband and best friend, Robert F. Anderson who passed away on January 2, 2002. They were married on August 30, 1944 at the former Saint George Church in Chicopee Falls and were blessed with over 57 years of happiness together. She leaves her two loving children, Kenneth R. Anderson and his wife, Deborah, of Cumberland, RI and Patricia L. Flink and her husband, John, of West Springfield; her five cherished grandchildren, Michele Freeman and Kelley Anderson, both of Winston-Salem, NC, Kyle Anderson of Baltimore, MD, Jonathan Flink and his wife, Lauren, of West Springfield and Timothy Flink of South Boston; her cherished great-grandchildren including Ryan Flink and Emma Flink; and her many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and extended members of the Anderson and Bachand families. Her funeral will be held on Tuesday morning, December 1, 2015 beginning at the St. Pierre-Phaneuf Springfield Chapels, (413-737-1177), 7 Chapin Terrace, Springfield, MA 01107 (the funeral home will open at 9 a.m.) followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. at Saint Patrick Church, 319 Broadway, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her Committal Service will follow the Mass at 1 p.m. in the Chapel at the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main Street, Agawam, MA 01001. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday morning, December 1, 2015 from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. before the Mass.
