She passed into Eternal Life at Wingate at West Springfield surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family and her wonderful caregivers. She was born in Northampton on January 17, 1923, a beloved daughter of the late Assad E. and Marina (Skaff) Ghareeb. She was raised in Springfield, graduated from the High School of Commerce and lived in Springfield for many years before moving to Longmeadow in 1973. She was a communicant of Saint George Greek Orthodox Cathedral in Springfield where she was a member of their Bible Study Group and a member of the Ladies Philoptochos Society. She traveled extensively with her late husband, Robert, and her sisters to the Middle East and Europe. She also loved her yearly trips to New York City for fine dining and to attend Broadway and the Metropolitan Opera. Most of all, she became a “surrogate mother” to her many loving nephews, nieces, grandnephews and grandnieces and showered them with her love and affection which was returned to her a thousand fold. Her family and many friends who knew her as “Dear” will forever cherish her memory in their hearts as she was always ready to embrace them with her warm friendly smile. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her loving husband, Robert E. Hynes who was Called Home on November 18, 1987; her loving sister, Sally Hyder; and her four loving brothers-in-law, Theodore “Ted” Hyder, Joseph Ghareeb, Habib “Hap” Doummar and Salem “Buzz” Hadad. She leaves her five loving sisters and brothers, Vivian Doummar of Virginia Beach, VA, Edward A. Ghareeb and his wife, Dolores “Dee”, of Springfield, Lorraine “Lorrie” Hadad of Rockville, MD, Jeanette “Jan” Ghareeb of West Springfield and Ernest V. Ghareeb and his wife, Jeanette, of Springfield; and her many cherished nephews, nieces, grandnephews, grandnieces, cousins, friends and extended members of the Hynes and Ghareeb families. In addition, she leaves her cherished niece and godchild, Heather DiVacri and her husband, Ronald and their family, of Burlington, MA; and her longtime caregiver and companion, Linda Curtis who was at her side for many years. Her family would like to thank the staff at Wingate at West Springfield for the care and loving embrace they gave to Ann and her family over the past year.
