FALL RIVER - Laura F. (Mendes) Noverca, 77, of 16 Green Lane, Assonet, MA, died Wednesday at Charlton Memorial Hospital. Wife of the late Jose F. Noverca, Jr. She is survived by: One Daughter: Cynthia Skelly of Assonet, MA, Two Brothers: Albert Mendes of Taunton, MA and Joseph Mendes of Westport, MA, Three Sisters: Mary Lou Silvia of Fall River, MA, Natalie Platt of Ashville, N.C., & Fern Mello of Ashville, N.C. Two Grandchildren and Two Great Grandchildren, Several nieces, nephews, and friends.
Born in Fall River, the daughter of the late Albert Mendes and the late Clara (Moniz Taveira) Mendes. She was a resident of Assonet for 8 years; previously residing in Fall River. Before retiring, she was a Hostess at China Royal, and was a member of the Assonet Council on Aging. She attended Southcoast Rehab.in Somerset and Dighton Prime Time. She was also a member of St. Bernard Church in Assonet.
Her funeral will take place from the Manuel Rogers & Sons Funeral Home, 1521 No. Main St. on Saturday at 7:00 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Bernard Church at 8:00 A.M. Internment in St. Patrick Cemetery. PRIVATE calling hours Friday 2-4 P.M. PUBLIC calling hours Friday 7-9 P.M.
