Natalie B. Ferreira, 87, of Dartmouth died Sunday November 22, 2015 at her home.
Born on Nantucket, the daughter of the late Antone S. and Mary J. (Sousa) Ferreira, she lived in New Bedford for several years before moving to Dartmouth in 1961.
She was a communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Church, where she was a member of the Women's League.
Miss Ferreira worked for the United Way during the campaign of 1957. She was a volunteer at the Sol-E-Mar Hospital for children with cerebral palsy from 1951-1954.
She was a graduate of New Bedford High School. During the 1950s, she was a member of the New Bedford Junior Women's Club.
She is survived by her sister, Olive W. Figueiredo of Dartmouth; two nieces, Violet Tracey and Diana Ferreira; five nephews, Arthur Desrocher, Joseph Ferreira, Thomas Ferreira, John Ferreira, and Andrew Ferreira; nineteen great-nieces and nephews; and several great-grand-nieces and nephews.
She was the sister of the late Mary J. Simms, Gloria M. Desrocher, Germaine C. Ferreira, Charles J. Ferreira, and Joseph L. Ferreira.
Her Funeral will be held on Wednesday at 9 AM from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford, followed by her Funeral Mass at St. Francis of Assisi Church at 10 AM. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery. Visiting hours will be on Tuesday from 4-7 PM.
