HOLLIS- Larry R. Haynes, age 68, of Old Alfred Road, passed away on Nov. 21, 2015.
He was born in Snohomish, WA on March 9, 1947, a son of William and Marguerite (Stafford) Haynes.
In his early years while living with his family in California, Larry worked in the redwood logging industry starting at age 8.
Larry proudly served in the US Army from 1968 – 1970 as a crash and rescue firefighter.
After being honorably discharged from the Army, Larry moved with his wife to Maine to start their family together. Larry was employed as a machinist and most recently worked for ODAT Machine Inc.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, western movies, and classic cars. He restored his Model T and loved taking it to car shows and cruise-ins. He cherished his friends and family- especially his grandchildren.
He is predeceased by his father- William R Haynes.
Larry is survived by his beloved wife- Mary (Lamb) Haynes; children- Kristi Haynes and husband Jared of North Waterboro, Kelly Haynes and husband Lee of Hollis, and Michael Haynes of California; mother- Marguerite Haynes of OR; siblings- Lloyd Haynes of CA, Eileen Martin of OR and Jim Haynes of OR; several nieces and nephews; grandchildren; and great grandchildren.
Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday evening, Nov. 24, from 6-8 PM at the Chad E. Poitras Cremation and Funeral Service Chapel, 498 Long Plains Road, Rt. 22, in Buxton. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday at 1 PM. Burial will follow at South Buxton Cemetery with military honors.
