Obituary

Maria (Baffo) Ursino of Malden died on Saturday, November 21, at the Lahey Clinic Medical Center of Burlington. Born and raised in Augusta, Sicily, she was the daughter of the late Salvatore and Gioacchina (Tiralongo) Baffo. After arriving in the U.S. in 1947, Maria settled first in Boston where she married her beloved husband of 58 years, Mario Ursino, and later moved to Medford.

After 24 years employed as a seamstress in Boston's garment district, Maria volunteered at Lawrence Memorial Hospital in Medford, and at Immaculate Conception Church in Malden, where she knitted christening blankets for newborns.

Maria was the devoted mother of Fran Ciszek and her husband Frank, and the loving grandmother of Jacquelyn Cleveland and her husband Jason, all of Atlanta, GA. She is also survived by her brother Mario of Woburn and sister Antonietta of Sicily, as well as many loving nieces and nephews.

Funeral from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford on Wednesday, November 25, at 9 AM followed by a funeral mass celebrated in Immaculate Conception Church, 600 Pleasant St., Malden, at 10 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Tuesday, November 24, from 4 through 8 PM. Services will conclude with entombment at Holy Cross Mausoleum, Malden.
