Franklin-----Lois Emile Dearborn Woods 91, lifelong resident of Franklin, died peacefully at the Peabody Home, Tuesday, November 17, 2015.
Lois was born September 7, 1924 in Franklin, NH, daughter to the late Leon W. and Doris E. (Holt) Dearborn. Lois worked for J.P. Stevens as a bookkeeper for 17 years until they closed the mill and left Franklin. She then went to work for the State Department of New Hampshire Revenue Administrator as an auditor and retired after 20 years.
Lois enjoyed fishing and boating during the summer in northern New Hampshire and snowmobiling in the winter with her family for many years. She will also be remembered for hosting the annual family picnic at her Lawndale Avenue home.
Lois is survived by her daughter Paulette Smith and her husband Orlan of Orlando, Florida, her step-son, Daryl A. Woods and his wife Patricia of Sanbornton, a sister-in-law, Doris Dearborn of Brattleboro, VT; three grandchildren, Jennifer Maloney of Sanbornton, Ryan Smith and Stephanie Smith both of Orlando, FL as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents Lois is predeceased by her loving husband of 53 years, Ernest W. Woods, two brothers, Robert Dearborn and Frank Holt Dearborn; two sisters, Glenice Flury and Majorie St. Jacques.
There will be no Calling Hours or Funeral Service.
A graveside service will be Monday, November 23, 2015 at 11:00am at the Franklin Cemetery, Franklin, NH.
Her family would like to thank the kind nursing staff at The Peabody Home for their loving care for Lois in her final years. They were her sunshine.
