Allen E. “Buzz” Pope, 70, of Moultrie, Georgia, died Tuesday, November 17, 2015, at his sister’s residence in Fitzgerald, Georgia.
Graveside services will be held 11 AM, Saturday, November 21, 2015, at Ocilla Cemetery with the Rev. Kelly Pope officiating. The family will greet friends at the cemetery following the service.
Mr. Pope was born October 27, 1945, in Fitzgerald, Georgia, to the late Wilson Tommy and Mary Louise Riddle Pope. A graduate of Fitzgerald High School, he worked in aircraft maintenance at Robins Air Force Base. He served his country honorably in the United States Navy. Mr. Pope loved the Georgia Bulldogs and watching football. He loved to fish in his younger years and enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He was a member of Westside Baptist Church.
He is survived by his children: Allen Pope, Jr. & Teressa of Fitzgerald, Timmy & Jessica Pope of Ocilla and Deana & Billy Taylor of Moultrie; grandchildren: Stephanie Manning, Dustin Pope, Chad Pope, Lisa Pope, Daniel Pope, Brandon Pope, and April Pope; his great-grandchildren: Avery Pope, Aubrey Pope, and Ryleigh Taylor; four brothers: Nathan & Judy Pope of Warner Robins, Kelly & JoAnn Pope of Warner Robins, Terry & Sharon Pope of Fitzgerald and Marty “Lamar” & Cindy Pope of Fitzgerald; three sisters: Darlene & Donald During, Jeanette Pope, and Linda Pope, all of Fitzgerald; a sister-in-law: Della Pope of Warner Robins; as well as many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife: Ann Hearn Pope; two grandsons: Billy Franklin Taylor, Jr. and Robert Taylor; a brother: W. Tommy Pope, Jr. and a sister: Rose Mary Pope.
