Roy Young, 73, of Enigma passed away Monday, November 16, 2015, at Tift Regional Medical Center. His funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, November 19, 2015, at New River Holiness Church in Berrien County with Rev. Joseph L. Crumley officiating. A eulogy will be given by Kenny Young. Mr. Young will be laid to rest at New River Holiness Church Cemetery in Berrien County. The family will receive friends Wednesday, November 18, 2015, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. Mr. Young will be placed in the church one hour prior to the service.
Barry Young, Earl Cooper, Randy Hancock, Danny Conway, Buddy Terry, Cole Young and Dustin Myers will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Billy Spicer, Ernest Knight, Julian Woods, Steve Bruce, Zack Railey and Gordon Burgess.
Born December 25, 1941 in Berrien County, Mr. Young was the son of the late Tom Young and Gertrude Jones Young. He was also preceded in death by three brothers and five sisters. He was a retired carpenter and served in the National Guard. He loved people, NASCAR racing and loved going to the mountains during the third week in October. He also loved his furry friends, Odie, Buddy and Sassy.
Mr. Young is survived by his wife, Rosanne “Rose” Funk of Enigma; one son, Tom Young of Kennesaw; two daughters and sons-in-law, Melissa “Missy” and Michael Sweeney and Lisa and Don Hogan, all of Tifton; three grandchildren, Megan Sweeney, Bailey Sweeney and Jack Jacobs; and a special nephew, Barry Young.
