NEW BEDFORD -- Elizabeth (Perry) Knowles, 85, of Fairhaven died Tuesday, May 31, 2005, at Hathaway Manor after a period of declining health. She was the widow of Robert B. Knowles; they were married 54 years.
Born and raised in New Bedford, she was the daughter of the late John S. Perry and Mary (Wilson) Perry. She was a 1938 graduate of Dana Hall School in Wellesley; she also graduated from the Erskine School and Pierce Secretarial School in Boston. She moved to Fairhaven in 1952.
She was a secretary at the Wood School and Rogers School in Fairhaven.
She was a Girl Scout leader, and a member of the Alcott Club of New Bedford, Fairhaven Colonial Club, the Women's Alliance and the Unitarian Memorial Church.
Mrs. Knowles enjoyed spending time with her family, knitting, baking and relaxing on her front porch in the summer.
Survivors include a daughter, Cynthia K. Denault of Fairhaven; a son, Robert B. Knowles Jr. of Norfolk; and four grandchildren.
Her funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday, June 3, 2005, at the Wilson Chapel, 479 County St. New Bedford, Ma.
Burial will be in Rural Cemetery.
It is suggested remembrances be made in her name to the Organ Fund of the Unitarian Memorial Church 102 Green St. Fairhaven, Ma. 02719
