CHICOPEE – Paul C. Ethier, 77, of the Chicopee Falls section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Sunday, November 15, 2015. He passed into Eternal Life at his home surrounded by the care and comfort of his loving family. He was born in Holyoke on May 14, 1938, a beloved son of the late Conrad and Irene (Delaronde) Ethier. He was raised in Chicopee and was a lifelong resident of the city. He served his country in the United States Army following the Korean War and attained the rank of Specialist Fourth Class. Following his military service, he returned to Chicopee and was later employed at the former Ampad Company in Holyoke. He was later employed at U-Haul in Chicopee and Springfield and then at Brennan’s College Service in Springfield. He was a member of the Pioneer Valley Radio Control Club and S.P.A.R.K.S. (Springfield Area Radio Kontrollers). Most of all, he was fun-loving man who adored his family and showered them with his love and affection which was returned to him a thousand fold. He leaves his loving wife and best friend, Claire A. (Gallant) Ethier. They were married on October 12, 1968 at Sainte Rose de Lima Church in Chicopee and were blessed with over 47 years of happiness together. He also leaves his two loving children, Paul C. Ethier, Jr. and his fiancée, Jeselle Salois, of Chicopee and Jeannine A. Lapointe and her husband, Gilles Lapointe, Jr., of Ludlow; his three cherished grandchildren, Christopher, Jillian and Melinda Lapointe; his dear sisters and brothers, Janet Daigle of Chicopee, Russell Ethier of Deltona, FL, David Ethier of Chicopee and Christine Lariviere and her husband, William, of Chicopee; and his many dear brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and extended members of the Ethier and Gallant families. Besides his parents, he was also predeceased by his five dear siblings, Jean Ethier, Conrad Ethier, Jr., Bernice Lussier, James Ethier and Donald Ethier; and his dear sister-in-law, Ronna R. Ethier who was Called Home on August 30, 2015. His funeral will be held on Monday morning, November 23, 2015 beginning at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020, (funeral home will open at 8 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. at Mary, Mother of Hope Church, 840 Page Boulevard, East Springfield, MA 01104. His Committal Service with United States Army Military Honors will follow the Mass at 11 a.m. in the Chapel at the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main Street, Agawam, MA 01001. His family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, November 22, 2015 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. The parking lot and main entrance are located in the rear of the funeral home at 20 Lafayette Street, Chicopee, MA 01020.
