SPRINGFIELD – Lucille C. “Lu” (Falardeau) Flynn, 93, of the Hungry Hill section of Springfield, was Called Safely Home on Saturday, November 14, 2015. She passed into Eternal Life at Mount Saint Vincent Care Center in Holyoke surrounded by her wonderful caregivers. She was born in her grandparents’ home in Chicopee on January 6, 1922, a beloved daughter of the late Wilfred and Alboma (Roy) Falardeau. She was raised in South Holyoke, attended Precious Blood Elementary and High Schools and lived in Holyoke for many years before moving to the Hungry Hill section of Springfield in the early 1950’s. She was employed at the former Gilbert & Barker Company in Springfield. She was last employed for 25 years as a personnel clerk at the US Post Office on Liberty Street in Springfield. Lucille enjoyed exploring her family genealogy from Canada. She was a member of the Padre Pio Prayer Group at Saint Stanislaus Basilica in Chicopee, was an avid knitter, enjoyed the casinos and loved to travel. She was also a member of the African Violet and Orchid Club in Amherst. Most of all, she was a wonderful homemaker to her family and showered them with her love and affection which was returned to her a thousand fold. She was predeceased by her beloved husband and best friend, Charles M. Flynn who was Called Home on Good Friday, April 3, 2015. They were married on April 21, 1951 at the former Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in Holyoke and were blessed with over 63 years of happiness together. Besides her parents and husband, she was also predeceased by her loving son, Michael N. Flynn who was Called Home on January 19, 2012; her loving son-in-law, Michael F. Linnehan who was Called Home on July 12, 2012; her two loving sisters-in-law, Lois Falardeau and Mary Margaret Flynn who was Called Home on December 7, 2007; her four loving brothers, Roland Falardeau, Reverend Normand Falardeau of the Blessed Sacrament Fathers, Donald Falardeau and Vincent Falardeau; and her two loving sisters, Theresa Rufo and Sister Florence Falardeau of the Sisters of the Presentation of Mary. She leaves her three loving children, Robert E. Flynn of Springfield, Joan M. Linnehan and her companion, Jess Bernier, of Southwick and John C. Flynn and his wife, Marcia (Dean) Flynn, of Belchertown; her cherished grandson, Patrick M. Linnehan and his companion, Alyssa Trahan, of Springfield; her two loving brothers, Reverend Ernest Falardeau of New York, NY and Leon Falardeau and his wife, Evelyn, of Trenton, NJ; her loving sister, Adele Roberts of Springfield; her cherished sister-in-law, Anita Falardeau of Holyoke; her cherished brother-in-law, Paul Rufo of Holyoke; and her many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and extended members of the Flynn and Falardeau families. Her funeral will be held on Friday morning, November 20, 2015 beginning at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Springfield Chapels, (413-737-1177), 7 Chapin Terrace, Springfield, MA 01107, (funeral home will open at 8 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in Sacred Heart Church, 395 Chestnut Street, Springfield, MA 01104. Her Committal Service will follow the Mass at 11 a.m. in the Chapel at the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main Street, Agawam, MA 01001.
