Mr. Robert F. “Rocky” Hayston, of Taunton, died Thursday, November 12 in the Good Samaritan Medical Center, Brockton, following a lengthy illness. He was the beloved husband of Maureen M. (Adams) Hayston. He was born 81 years ago in Taunton, the son of the late Frederick W. and Josephine (Bouchard) Hayston. He was educated in Taunton and had been a lifelong city resident. Prior to his retirement, he had been employed in Quality Control for the Henry Perkins Company of Bridgewater for 37 years. Rocky was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War. He also served in the U.S. Merchant Marine following his naval service. He was a Life Member of the Taunton Lodge of Elks, and was a member of the Lakeville Eagles and the former St. Joseph’s Church Council of the Knights of Columbus. Rocky enjoyed bowling at Taunton Ten Pin, socializing with his many friends at the Elks and the Pub 76, and spending time with his family. He was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Taunton.
In addition to his wife, he leaves: 2 daughters: Tina Mandell and her husband, Richard of Taunton, and Pamela Lamb and her husband, Patrick of Taunton; 2 stepsons: William Henderson and his wife, Stephanie of Taunton, and David Henderson and his wife, Lynda of Taunton; 1 stepdaughter: Jeanette Gravel and her husband, William of Taunton; 1 sister: Anna Hopkins of Waltham; 7 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Arthur, Donald, Frederick, Daniel and Charles Hayston, Helen Harris and Marie Sullivan.
Funeral services will be held from The Riendeau-Mulvey Funeral Home, 467 Bay Street, on Wednesday, November 18 at 9:00 A.M. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Church at 10:00 A.M. Interment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting Hours will be held on Tuesday, from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M.
