Francis J. Ellard, 80

Dateline: Norton, MA

Francis J. Ellard, age 80, of Norton, passed away in the comfort of his home on Friday, November 13, 2015. He was the beloved husband of 55 years to the late Dorothy J. (LeBlanc) Ellard who died on October 5, 2012.
Born in Boston, MA on May 7, 1935, he was a loving son of the late Francis J. and Rose F. (Cavanaugh) Ellard.
Frank grew up in the Dorchester neighborhood of Boston. He was educated in Dorchester schools and was a graduate of Boston Trade School. During the Korean War, he proudly served his country as a member of the United States Air Force and was honorably discharged with the rank of Airman Second Class.
Prior to retiring, Mr. Ellard had been employed for over 35 years at the Boston Insulated Wire and Cable Co. He retired as a quality control manager.
Frank was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Norton and had made his home in Norton for the past 40 years.
His favorite times spent were those in the presence of his treasured family, especially with his cherished grandchildren. Along with his late wife Dottie, he enjoyed traveling, and times spent at his family’s summer home and the beaches in West Yarmouth.
Frank enjoyed tending to his yard in Norton, attending local cruise nights in his pristine1973 Ford Torino, and was a huge fan of the Boston Red Sox and Boston Bruins.
He is survived by his devoted children, David J. Ellard and his wife Julie of Foxboro, Edward R. Ellard and his wife Jacqueline of California, Steven M. Ellard and his wife Christine of Brewster, Diane M. Chaplin of Attleboro and the late Susan G. Ellard. He was the dear brother of Robert Ellard of Quincy and his late wife Marjorie, and is also survived by his adoring 11 grandchildren.
His Funeral, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Wednesday, November 18th at 9:00 A.M. from the Norton Memorial Funeral Home, 19 Clapp St. (Off Route 140, Taunton Ave.) Norton, followed by a Mass of Christian burial celebrated at 10:00 A.M. in St. Mary’s Church, 1 Power St., Norton. Burial will follow at the Timothy Plain Cemetery in Norton.
Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday November 17th from 5-8 P.M. at the Norton Memorial Funeral Home.
