Germaine Y. (Levasseur) Duhamel, died on November 10, 2015 at the age of 101 at St. Joseph Convent, Biddeford, Maine.
Germaine was born in Sully, Quebec, Canada on August 24, 1914. She moved to Lawrence at an early age after her family lost their home and lumber business to fire. She worked for a time at the Stride Rite Shoe Company.
She was predeceased by her husband of 72 years, Lionel Duhamel. She is survived by her daughters Marie Annette Turcotte of Methuen, Sister Lucille Duhamel, SCIM of Biddeford, Maine, and son Paul Duhamel of Lawrence; a sister Theresa Duhamel of Merrimac; three grandchildren: Betty Ann Turcotte, Christina Turcotte and Matthew Duhamel and his wife Jamie, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Germaine was an active member of the Third Order of Mary. She was devoted to her family, raising her children and babysitting her grandchildren.
Visiting hours will be from 9-10 AM on Saturday, November 14, 2015 at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home, 233 Lawrence Street, Methuen. Her funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 AM on Saturday at Our Lady of Good Counsel / St. Theresa’s Church, 33 Plymouth Street, Methuen. Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Andover.
