November 9, 2015 late afternoon at Ojai Valley Community Hospital. Joe was surrounded by his loving family and friends. Joseph is survived by his wife Sharon Russell-Zorskie and his son Adam Zorskie who lives in Northern California.
Many of you will remember seeing Joe play tennis at Libbey Park or seeing him dance at the Ojai Athletic Club. Joe, the handsome gentle giant stood out in any crowd with his thick white hair and slim 6'6" body.
Dr. Zorskie was born in Shenandoah, Penn. Oct. 23,1939. His father was a coal miner and both parents were Lithuanian descent. He had no siblings. He graduated from Stevens Institute of Technology with a PhD in Physics in Hoboken, N. J. In 1969, then taught at Vassar College in Poughkeepsie, N.Y. During that time he was a very serious student at the Zen Society in N. Y.
Interested in the work of David Bohm and Krishnamurti, Joseph moved and taught at the Brockwood School in England in the 70's. After Joe's son Adam was born in 1977 he moved to Ojai where he worked as a carpenter on the Oak Grove School. The last 10 years of Joes working days were at the Ojai Villanova Prep School where he taught the sciences and coached the tennis team. He volunteered many years for the Ojai Tennis Tournament, and also delivered Meals on Wheels to many Ojai residents.
Joe loved his retirement of exercise followed by going out for coffee at Java Joes or Bohemia. He spent many mornings feeding all his birds in the back yard, and evenings watching the Pink Moment on the Topa Topas. He was ananimal lover and especially loved his black lab Callie who for years accompanied Joe at the tennis courts. Joseph was a very loving and compassionate man and scientist who will be missed.
Family and friends are invited to Memorial Services to celebrate Joseph's Life from 1:00 to 3:30pm Saturday November 21, 2015 at the Oak Grove School, Ojai.
