Clement J. Ruel, age 84, passed away on November 9, 2015 surrounded by his loving family. He was born on May 29, 1931 in Saint Charles, Comte de Bellechasse, Canada. He was a son of the late Phileas and Leda (Asselin) Ruel. Clement worked as a painter for many years before he retired. He was a communicant of the former Assumption Parish, and most recently of St Rose de Lima Parish. He enjoyed spending time with family, tinkering and playing cards with friends. He would spend free time watching the Boston Red Sox and UCONN Girls basketball games. He was a life-long member of the Knights of Columbus, Council 69, 3rd Degree. He also loved to volunteer his time to the church and take trips to the Casino. He leaves his loving wife Alice M. (Lamontagne) Ruel of Chicopee; two sons, Donald J. Ruel and his wife Deborah of Chicopee and Marc J. Ruel and his wife Tracy of Brimfield; three daughters, Constance M. Cullen and her husband Joseph of Orange, CT, Joanne M. Zemanek and her husband Richard of East Longmeadow and Charlene M. Ruel of Chicopee and his beloved grandchildren, Kristina and Stephen Ruel, Andrew and Rachael Zemanek and his precious fur buddy Ivy. He was preceded in death by his brothers Laval Ruel, Paul Lemelin, Maurice Lemelin and sisters Jeanne D’Arc Nadeau, Fernande Labrie. He is survived by his sister Evangeline (Roy) Ritchott, brothers Fernand Ruel, Gerald Ruel, Jean Yves Ruel along with several nieces, nephews, and family friends. Calling Hours will be held on Thursday, November 12, 2015 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Grise Funeral Home, 280 Springfield St, Chicopee, MA. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, November 13, 2015 at 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. in St Rose de Lima Church. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
