TEWKSBURY - Guy P. Gallello Sr., age 82, a veteran, aerospace defense worker, and formally active in Tewksbury town management, died peacefully Monday morning, November 9, at the Winchester Hospital, in the loving care of his family. He was the husband of the late Maryanne (Rufo) Gallello who died in 1998 after 39 years of marriage. For the past fifteen years he was the loving partner and companion of Deborah (Mazzola) Young, of Woburn.
Guy was born in Winchester in June 1933, one of six children of the late Dominic and Catherine (DeTeso) Gallello, and was raised in Winchester. He enlisted into the U.S. Air Force and served stateside as an aircraft mechanic during the Korean War. Guy lived in Tewksbury, from 1962, until 2010, where he raised his family. He began his professional career at Raytheon. He then worked as a quality control inspector for I.T.E.K. in Burlington. He was especially proud that the work with I.T.E.K. was essential to the Apollo, Viking, Pioneer, and Voyager N.A.S.A. programs. He changed careers and went to Continental Can Company in NH, and then Honeywell which became Loral Systems, from where he retired.
Guy served as an elected member and was past chairman of the Tewksbury Finance Committee and also served on the T.M.H.S. Annex Building Committees. He served as Treasurer of The F.A.R.M. which has become the Strongwater Farm Therapeutic Equestrian Program at Tewksbury Hospital.
When time allowed, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, and traveling.
He leaves his children, Guy Gallello Jr., and his wife Andrea (Prenezio) of Findlay, OH, Donna M. MacNeil and her husband D. Joseph “Joey” of Weymouth, and Deborah A. Zorn and her husband Douglas of Stoughton; six grandchildren, Joseph and Jenna Gallello of Ohio, Jessica and Lindsey MacNeil of Weymouth, and Chelsea and Stephen Zorn of Stoughton; many nieces and nephews; and was predeceased by his siblings, Mary Guzzo, Catherine Smaldone, Carol Puzzanghera, Ann Gallello, and Dominic Gallello.
Visiting hours Friday, Nov. 13, from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. in the Tewksbury Funeral Home, corner of 1 Dewey and 975 Main Sts. (Rte. 38) TEWKSBURY CENTER, Ph. (800) in MA or (978)-851-2950. His funeral will begin Saturday at 9:00 a.m. from the funeral home followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. in St. William’s Church, 1351 Main St. (Rte. 38) Tewksbury.
