BOSCAWEN – Norma (Montgomery) Keith, 94, of 325 Daniel Webster Highway, died Thursday, November 5, 2015 at the Merrimack County Nursing Home surrounded by her family and the loving staff at the Special Care Unit. Norma fought a long and hard battle with Alzheimer’s disease.
Norma was born February 27, 1921 in Randolph Center, VT, the daughter of Erwin M. and Nellie (Bird) Montgomery. She married Ralph W. Keith on October 29, 1946 and they had three children. Initially they lived in Barre, Vt.; moved to Waitsfield, Vt. to establish their own small grocery store/gas pumps but after a fire they relocated to 71 Park St., Northfield, NH where they owned and operated “Park Street Market” from 1954 to 1981. Ralph died on October 27, 1971 but Norma continued to operate the business for another 10 years. In addition to working at the store she was also employed full time for several years at “Tilton Endless Belts”, prior to her husband’s death. After selling the store in 1981 she moved to Belmont NH with her son, Douglas. Norma had many different employments for several years. In 1991 Norma moved to Gilmanton, NH to live with her daughter, Patricia.
For the latter part of her life she was a volunteer for the Senior Companion Program for a short time and then transferred to the “Foster Grandparent Program” where she volunteered at the Belmont Elementary school working with Vickie Abbott’s class for over 20 years. She loved them so much and they loved her.
Norma was a very loving, giving, and caring individual. She loved to sew, bake, work in her flower gardens, and loved loved loved her kids at Belmont Elementary School.
Norma was predeceased by her son, Myron on May 7, 1952 and three brothers; Robert, Burt and Jack Montgomery. Norma is survived by her son & daughter-in-law, Douglas and Monique Keith of Belmont, NH and her daughter and son-in-law, Patricia & Stephen McCormack of Gilmanton, NH; four grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
There will be a Celebration of Life for Norma from 1:00 pm to 3:00pm on Saturday, November 14, 2015 at the Beane Conference Center, 35 Blueberry Lane, Laconia, NH.
Burial will be held in the family plot at 1PM on Sunday, November 15, 2015 at East Brookfield Cemetery in Brookfield, Vermont.
