Obituary

Ronald L. “Ronnie” Passmore, 70, of Fitzgerald, died Friday, November 6, 2015, at Redmond Regional Medical Center in Rome, Georgia.

Funeral services will be held 3 PM, Tuesday, November 10, 2015 at The Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Fitzgerald with the Rev. Dr. Lloyd Stembridge officiating. Interment will be private. The family will receive friends from 6-8 Monday evening at the funeral home.

Mr. Passmore was born May 2, 1945, in Jacksonville, Florida to the late Marion Laxton & Louise Hammond Passmore. A 1964 graduate of Fitzgerald High School, he attended South Georgia Technical College in Americus. Mr. Passmore served his country honorably in the United States Navy. He was a retired lab technician with Delphi Automotive Systems and was the owner and operator of the Trophy House. Mr. Passmore was a member of Pine Level Lodge #353 F.&A.M. in Fitzgerald, Hasan Shrine in Albany, and enjoyed the activities and parades with the Ben Hillbilly Unit. An avid lover of sports, Mr. Passmore enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren play ball. He coached the softball team Trouble and coached for DLS for over 30 years. He also cooked many meals to feed the Purple Hurricanes. He was a member of the American Legion Post 99 and Arbor Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Patricia “Pat” Passmore of Fitzgerald; his daughters and their spouses: Shannon & Brandon Thompson, Sandy & Anthony Anderson, and Trisha Turner, all of Fitzgerald; grandchildren: Cason Thompson, Carson Thompson, Marcus Anderson, Annabel Anderson, Jailynn Yancey, Brenlyn Yancey, Maelyn Turner, Keith Billingsley, and Tamara Billingsley-Litchard; great-grandchildren: Nahla Billingsley, Kash Hawkins, Jordan Litchard, and Nehemiah Billingsley; a brother and sister-in-law, Jimmy & Vicki Passmore of Chester, Virginia; uncle: Bobby & Frances Hammond of Macon as well as several cousins, nieces, and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Rhonda Thornton and a grandson, Gregory Thornton.
