Sarah K. “Kathy” Dees Eckert, 54, of Tifton went to meet her Savior Saturday, November 7, 2015, at her residence following a battle with cancer. Her funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 10, 2015, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with Elder Jim Sandlin, Elder Wendell Horten and Elder John Phillips officiating. Kathy will be laid to rest at Oakey Grove Church Cemetery in Berrien County. The family will receive friends Monday, November 9, 2015, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Chris Griffin, Ian Stephens, Noah Stephens, Will Cox, Henry Cox, Mike Hasty, Owen Cooper and Wright Marchant will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the staff of Georgia Home Health.
Kathy was born March 11, 1961 in Tifton, but had lived in the Tampa, Saint Petersburg and Bradenton, Florida area for the past 25 years, moving back to Tifton four years ago. She was a member of Bethlehem Primitive Baptist Church in Cook County. Kathy was employed with Georgia Home Health as a registered nurse. She was preceded in death by her husband in 2011, Gary S. Eckert of Hobart, Indiana; her father in 2012, James Marvin “J. M.” Dees of Tifton; and her sister in 2013, Glenda Long of Tifton.
Kathy is survived by her wonderful mother, Omagene Rooks Dees of Tifton, for who she was eternally grateful; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Keith and Vicki Dees of Chula, Larry and Janice Dees and Jimmy and Pat Dees, all of Tifton; as well as six nieces; three nephews; and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews.
