Robert I. Travis, 93, of Chester, NH passed away on Wednesday, November 4, 2015 in his home. He was born on April 8, 1922 in Lynn, MA a son of the late George and Adelina (Hall) Travis. He grew up in Medford, MA and Wakefield, MA and also spent summers in Windham, NH as a child. Mr. Travis was a member of the United States Coast Guard and served in WWII and later went on to graduate from UNH. He was a carpenter by trade until his retirement. He was a lover of the outdoors and enjoyed various activities such as hunting, fishing, gardening, hiking and mountain climbing. Mr. Travis will be remembered as a truly loving husband, father and grandfather.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Emma Travis; his daughter, Linda Travis, his granddaughter, Brooke Travis and several nieces and nephews.
A calling hour was held on Tuesday from 10am to 11am in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium 15 Birch St., Derry. The funeral service followed at 11am in the funeral home. The burial was in Great Hill Cemetery, Chester.
