Doris I. Goethals 86, of Charles St. died Wednesday at Miriam Hospital. Born in Woonsocket, she was a daughter of the late Rene and Ida (St Sauveur) Gagnon. Doris worked at the French Worsted Co. for sixteen years and Health Tex for thirteen years before retiring in 1989. She was a member of the YMCA Senior Club and the Lincoln Sr. Center. Doris had a great fondness for animals, she enjoyed dancing and going to the Casinos.
She is survived by her dearest and closest friend, Edward Lachut of Lincoln, a son Roland Goethals and his wife Carrie of Spring Hills, FL, a daughter Helene Coutu and her husband Robert of Land O’Lakes, FL, a brother Roland Gagnon Sr. of Wellston, MI, three grandchildren, Roland Goethals Jr., Joshua Coutu, and Julian Coutu and four great-grandchildren, Ciara, Nicholas, Noel, and Hailey. She was predeceased by her husband Anatole Goethals, two brothers Arthur and Walter Gagnon and a granddaughter, Molly E. Coutu.
Her funeral will be held Saturday at 9:00 AM from the Fournier & Fournier Funeral Home, 463 South Main St. Woonsocket, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in St. Jude’s Church, Front St. Lincoln, RI. Burial will be held in St. Jean Baptiste Cemetery in Bellingham. Visiting Hours are Friday 4:00-6:00 PM.
