Theresa (Dorval) Lapierre, age 87, passed away on Nov. 3, 2015 at the Jewish Nursing Home in Longmeadow. She was surrounded by her loving family throughout her brave fight. She was born on June 23, 1928 in Abitibi, Province of Quebec, Canada. She was a daughter of the late Adelard and Marie-Reine (Lambert) Dorval. Theresa worked as a computer operator for Atlantic Maritime Services for many years before she retired. She was a communicant of Assumption Church in Chicopee. Theresa loved to garden, cook and travel, but most especially spend time with her family. She was a volunteer at Lorraine’s Soup Kitchen and was also very active with the Chicopee Senior Center. She leaves her husband Raymond Lapierre of Chicopee; 2 sons Marcel Lapierre and his wife Ann of Chicopee and David Lapierre and his wife Dawn of Belchertown; 2 daughters Michele Snizek and her husband James of Belchertown and Lisa Lapierre of West Springfield; Theresa’s pride and joy were her 7 beloved grandchildren Nikki and Jacob Snizek, Jaime, Justin, Amanda, Joshua and Lauren Lapierre and her 2 great grandchildren Zavier and Alaya Lapierre. She is predeceased by her brothers Laurent and Richard Dorval and also by her sister Jeanne D’Arc Roy. The family would like to thank the staff of the Jewish Geriatric Services, Spectrum Hospice, Home Instead and her special care giver Kathy Mitchell for the excellent care given to Theresa. Calling hours will be held on Friday, Nov. 6, 2015 from 4-7 p.m. at the Grise Funeral Home, 280 Springfield St, Chicopee, MA. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, Nov. 7, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in Assumption Church at 11:00 a.m. Burial will take place in Notre Dame Cemetery.
