Vivian Thompson Griffin, 89, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Wednesday, November 4, 2015, at the Life Care Center in Fitzgerald.
Graveside services will be held 11 AM, Thursday, November 5, 2015, at Evergreen Cemetery in Fitzgerald, with the Rev. Tom Braziel officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.
Mrs. Griffin was born December 27, 1925 in Fitzgerald, Georgia, to the late Daniel & Rena Campbell Thompson. A graduate of Fitzgerald High School, she retired in 1991 as the WIC representative for the State of Georgia in Ben Hill County. She was a member of the Green Thumb Garden Club and Beta Sigma Phi. Mrs. Griffin was also a member of First Baptist Church and the Genesis Sunday school class.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law: Michael & Susan Griffin of Fitzgerald; a grandson: Chris & Amanda Griffin of Fitzgerald; two great-grandsons: Tyler Griffin and Colten Griffin; and a brother: Gerald & Janet Thompson of Fitzgerald. Several nieces and nephews also survive. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Horace D. Griffin; a son: Dan Griffin; three sisters: Doris T. Downing, Wylene Prescott and Laverne McGuire; and two brothers: Everette Thompson and Wallace Thompson.
