Gilmanton-----Marie Jeanne Lester, 90, passed away unexpectedly at her home on Sunday, November 1, 2015.
Marie was born in Manchester, NH on February 14, 1925, the daughter of Urbain and Rose (Martineau) Girard. She married Albert J. Lester and they moved to Webster,MA. where she lived most of her life. She came in 2004 to reside with her daughter & son-in-law, Elizabeth and Wayne Hackett in Gilmanton, NH.
Marie worked many years in B & W Footwear Co. and also Bates Shoe Co. as a shoe worker/inspector, as well as a Crossing Guard for one of the grammar schools in Webster, Ma. Although Marie was a Catholic for most of her life, she joined the United Baptist Church of Lakeport along with her daughter and son-in-law. She joined the Ready For Service Ladies group in the church. She was constantly busy with crocheting lap robes & prayer shawls for others. When she was not crocheting, she was busy daily putting together jiqsaw puzzles.
Marie is survived by a son, Richard Lester and his wife Faye, of Gainesville, FL; two daughters, Elizabeth Hackett and her husband Wayne, of Gilmanton, NH and Diana Pagnotto, of Oxford, MA., nine grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. Marie also leaves 3 nieces and 2 nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Albert Lester; a brother, Arthur Girard and by a sister, Lucille LaFountain.
There will be no calling hours.
A celebration of life service will be held on Thursday, November 12, 2015 at 11:30AM at the United Baptist Church, 35 Park Street, Laconia, NH.
Burial will be held on Friday, November 13, 2015 at 11:00am at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Old Worcester Road, Webster Massachusetts.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial donations may be made to the United Baptist Church, 35 Park Street, Laconia, NH 03246.
