Obituary

CHICOPEE – Charles E. “Chuck” Danasko, Jr., 81, of the Fairview section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Saturday, October 31, 2015. He passed into Eternal Life at the Soldiers’ Home in Holyoke surrounded by the care and comfort of his loving family and his comrades-at-arms. He was born in Holyoke on January 12, 1934, a beloved son of the late Charles E. Danasko, Sr. and Mary (Fesko) Danasko. He was raised in South Hadley and graduated from South Hadley High School. He lived in South Hadley until 1968 when he moved to Chicopee. He furthered his education and received an Associates Degree from Holyoke Community College and then attended American International College in Springfield. He served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War and attained the rank of Specialist Fourth Class. He received the Army Occupation of Germany Medal and the National Defense Service Medal. Following his military service, he returned to South Hadley and was employed for over 34 years at the former Technifax Company in Holyoke. He was last employed in the maintenance department at the Chicopee Waste Water Treatment Plant. He was a communicant of Sainte Rose de Lima Church in Chicopee. He enjoyed spending time with his beloved wife, Francine, at Lake George and in Maine taking boat and train rides. He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 43 years, Francine M. “Frannie” (deBlois) Danasko who was Called Home on September 12, 2011. He leaves his two sisters, Barbara A. Aiken and Shirley A. Danasko, both of South Hadley; his niece, Mary Beth Aiken of South Hadley; his two nephews, Mark F. Aiken and his wife, Jacqueline, and Michael E. Aiken, all of South Hadley; his brother-in-law, Andre deBlois of Canada; his cousin, Daniel Quigley of Holyoke; and his many grandnephews, grandnieces, cousins, and members of the Danasko and Fesko families. His funeral will be held on Wednesday morning, November 4, 2015 beginning at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020, (funeral home will open at 9 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. in Sainte Rose de Lima Church, 600 Grattan Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. His burial with US Army Military Honors will follow the Mass at Sainte Rose Cemetery, 49 Olsen Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. His family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, November 3, 2015 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. The parking lot and main entrance are located in the rear of the funeral home at 20 Lafayette Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. His family has requested that memorial donations be made in his memory to Sainte Rose de Lima Church, c/o 15 Chapel Street, Chicopee, MA 01020 or to the Soldiers’ Home in Holyoke, 110 Cherry Street, Holyoke, MA 01040.
